Cruise Control

Cruise control is a system that allows a driver to rest their right foot by electronically managing the vehicle's speed.

The system comprises a wiring harness, CPU, throttle actuator and command module. There are two types of actuator; vacuum powered and electrically powered, the vacuum powered unit(AP300) is normally perfectly good for most vehicles however some require the electrically powered unit(AP500) namely some earlier Citroens (with the hydrostatic suspension as these have no vacuum supply) and some vehicles have restricted access around the throttle connection area and so require a reduced operating stroke. More modern vehicles are often better suited to the fully electronic drive by wire system(AP900)

new improved fully electronic cruise control including speed limiter

Some modern vehicles with drive by wire throttle control require a fully electronic interface to enable cruise control fitment. This is achieved with the AP900 interface which replaces the vacuum or electric servos. The new Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Relay, require this system. 2.  MOST POPULAR  ZT35M Steering column mounted stalk with two preset memories + AP300

£342.36 fitted inc.VAT.

Possibly the most ergonomic and intuitive control available.

The CM8 module is compatible with all of the above systems except the ZT35 which has the memory functions built in.

How it works

CM35 stalk

1. ACT/OFF. Switches the cruise control system on (ACTivate) or off.

2. FIX. Fixes the vehicle's current speed. In other words the driver can press the "FIX" button and the cruise control system will maintain the vehicles speed, automatically increasing or decreasing the throttle opening to compensate for speed fluctuation.

3. KM+ (accelerate). When the Fix/KM+ button is held in when the cruise control system is active the vehicle will accelerate until the button is released. The vehicles speed will be maintained at this new increased setting. This button also provides a "tap up" feature whereby each short press of the button will increase the vehicle's speed by aproximately 1/2 mile per hour. 10 clicks in quick succession will raise the speed by about 5MPH.

4. MEM. If the cruise control system has been used and then disengaged by pressing either the clutch or brake pedal, one tap of the MEM button will resume the vehicle to the last set speed.

5. KM- (decellerate). As per KM+ but this one reduces the set speed. This button also provides a "tap down" feature of the same 1/2 MPH per click as the KM+ button.

6. The optional CM8 module gives three programmable buttons which can be easily set to speeds of the drivers choice e.g. 30MPH, 40MPH, 50MPH. When the cruise control system is active and above it's minimum operational speed of approximately 20MPH then one press of any of these buttons will accelerate or decelerate the vehicle to that buttons programmed speed. £42 Extra
